Abstract

The antifungal activity of ethanolic extracts of medicinal plants were evaluated against Pythium aphanidermatum (Edson) Fitzp. involved in damping-off disease of tobacco. Ethanolic extracts of leaves of 36 different medicinal plants were screened for their antifungal activity by "modified paper disc technique". The ethanolic extract of leaf of Ocimum sanctum exhibited maximum toxicity against the test fungus inhibiting the mycelial growth upto 81%.
