Residual Toxicity of Newer Insecticides to Brown lacewing, Micromus igorotus

Abstract

Investigations were carried out in the laboratory to estimate the residual toxicity of newer insecticides against the predator, Micromus igorotus Banks. Irrespective of insecticides tested, adults were found more sensitive than the grubs. Profenophos was highly toxic to grubs causing more than 90 per cent mortality and toxicity remained up to 30 days. Spinosad and indoxacarb lost their toxicity within 3 days. Thiodicarb and methomyl were highly toxic to the adults causing more than 90 per cent mortality up to one month and took two months for complete degradation of toxicants.
