Seven partially purified plant product preparations were screened for their efficacy against Alternaria alternata causing chilli fruit disease, under in vitro and in vivo conditions. Bitter Temru fruits and Datura leaves preparation inhibited the mycelial growth and spore germination and also caused maximum reduction in fruit rot disease intensity. In pot experiments, the fruit rot was effectively controlled by three successive sprayings of Bitter Temru fruits and Datura leaves preparation as well as by a fungicide Kitazine.
