Field studies were carried out to evaluate the bioefficacy of new insecticide formulation of emamectin benzoate 5 SG at four doses viz., 9, 11, 13 and 15 g a.i. ha−1 for the control of okra shoot and fruit borer, in farmers field at Vandikaranoor during (March 2008- June 2008) and at Puttur during (July 2008 - October). Emamectin benzoate 5 SG at 11 and 15 g a.i. ha−1 was highly effective in checking the larval population of E. vittella compared to other standard check, commercial Proclaim® (emamectin benzoate 5 SG at 11g a.i. ha−1) and endosulfan 35 EC @ 350 g a.i. ha−1. Emamectin benzoate 5 SG at 15 g a.i. ha−1 was the best treatment recording low larval population of E. vittella and also yielding highest at both locations.
