Abstract

Studies on the bioefficacy of insecticides against mealy bug, Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley on bidi tobacco were carried out under laboratory conditions at varying room temperature and relative humidity at Anand Agricultural University, Anand. Maximum mortality (96.1%) of 2nd instars was obtained under laboratory conditions when nymphs were treated with methomyl and acephate, which was followed by profenophos (95.1%) and triazophos (93.8%). Minimum mortality was observed when mealy bug nymphs were treated with buprofezin (39.2%). Similarly, methomyl was highly effective against 3rd instar nymphs in laboratory experiment with 97.4% mortality, followed by carbaryl (96.1%), profenophos (92.2%) and triazophos (92.3%), respectively.
