Abstract

Frontline demonstrations on need based plant protection in oilseed crops were conducted on farmers’ fields in different agro-ecological situations during 2007–08 to 2010–11 to show the productivity potential and profitability of Improved Technologies (IT). The results indicated that the IT plots recorded higher mean productivity, gross returns, additional net returns, B:C ratio and ICBR than the farmers’ practice plots indicating the technical and economic feasibility of IT In order to scale-up the demonstrations and speed up the dissemination of plant protection technologies, there is need to forge necessary partnerships involving extension agencies, state department of agriculture and input agencies.
