Research trials were conducted at Research Farm of College of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh for two consecutive Rabi seasons of 2009-10 and 2010-11 to study the effect of abiotic factors on the activity of bud fly. Peak activity of bud fly (Dasyneura lini Barnes) was observed during 10thstandard meteorological week. During this period, minimum (19.0ºC), average (27.5ºC) and maximum (36.1 ºC) temperatures were found conducive for maximum activity of the pest. Morning, average and evening relative humidity with 66.8, 45.4 and 24.1 per cent, respectively, was favorable for the optimum development of the pest. Direct effect of maximum and minimum temperature on its correlation with maggot population was very high and positive, whereas, the average temperature was negative. Similarly, direct effect of morning and evening relative humidity had negatively contributed to maggot population.
