The comparative efficacy of seven systemic insecticides, viz., aldicarb 10 G, phorate 10 G, disulfoton 5 G, mephosfolan 5 G and carbofuran 3 G applied as seed farrow and phorate and carbofuran applied as seed dreessing, was evaluated against Anaphothrips sudanensis Trybom infesting spring-sown maize at Udaipur. All the insecticidal treatments were significantly superior to control at 14, 17, 20, 24, and 31 days after sowing. In general the granular treatments gave comparatively more protection to the plants from thrips than the seed dressing treatments. Mephosfolan 5 G applied in the seed furrow @ 3 g m row proved to be the most effective insecticide against this pest.
