Abstract

Agricultural Spray Oil (E-9267) was evaluated against soft green scale, Coccus viridis Green on Coorg mandarins ot 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4% concentrations. Higher concentrations of ASO i.e. 2, 3, and 4% gave 93.20, 97.69 and 100% kill of the pest respectively but unfortunately they caused phototoxicity to the leaves. The mean phototoxicity index was highest (65.18) in the treatment with 4% ASO. Lower concentrations (0.5 and 1%) proved ineffective against this pest. Weather conditions and concentration of ASO appear to be the factors responsible for phytotoxicity. Coorg mandarins seem to be more prone to oil injury.
