Abstract

Soil application of 7 granular systemic insecticides, viz. carbofuran, dimethoate, fensulfothion, phorate, disulfoton, mephospholan and aldicarb was tested for the control of soft green scale, Coccus viridis Green on potted plants of Coorg mandarins @ 400 mg a.i, per pot. Mephospholan gave complete kill of-scales between 2nd and 3rd week after application and no reinfestation was recorded in this treatment for a period of 8 weeks. Carbofuran gave only 99.42% kill between 5th and 6th week and by 7th week reinfestation took place. Other insecticides proved inferior.
