Abstract

Helminthosporium turcicum Pass., causes leaf blight of Sorghum vulgare Pers., various chemicals and plant extracts were screened for their efficacy in controlling the disease. Difolatan, cycloheximide, carbaryl and ansar among chemicals and plant extracts of A. sativum, A. cepa, P. monadelphum and R. discolor were found to be efficient. Morphological abnormalities in germtubes were observed in most of the chemicals and plant extracts used showing their toxicity.
