A field study was carried out to control sheath blight disease of rice caused by Rhizoctonia solani. ADT-31-a susceptible rice variety was grown in this study. The antibiotics viz. agrimyein-500, streptocycline, blasticidin, polyoxin, aureofun-gin, tetracycline, kasumin and oxytetracycline were tested against the disease at 0.1 per cent level. All the antibiotics tested have controlled the disease compared to control. Aureofungin was effective in controlling the disease. Increased grain yield was recorded in all the plots sprayed with antibiotics.
