Abstract

Five insecticides namely endosulfan 0.05 per cent, dimethoate 0.03. per cent, phos-phamidon 0.02 per cent, monocrotopnos 0.04 per cent and a combination of carbaryl (0.02 per cent) plus Dipel 1 g/1 were evaluated against Myzus persicae Sulz., Spodoptera litura Fabr. and Heliothis armigera in tobacco in two field trials conducted at Sivapuri tobacco area near Annamalai University, Tamilnadu. The results Suggest the superiority of endosulfan in increasing the yield by its effective control against leaf caters followed by carbaryl+Dipel combination and monocrotophos. The studies also indicated that the reduction in yield was mainly due to the leaf eaters than by aphids.
