Herbicidal Influence on the Uptake of Sulphur in Maize

In maize, total sulphur uptake declined by 54.74 and 44.65 percent over control by the application of 4kg/ha of atrazine, 8kg/ha of EPTC, other levels of these herbicides also caused significant reduction. The pattern was same under DPA, and 2, 4-D at all the levels to slightly lower extent. The absorption of 35s by maize was reduced by the application of herbicides which varied from 13.60 percent (8kg/ha) EPTC to 26.93 percent (0.50kg/ha atrazine) against 32.00 percent in control.
