Twenty five fungiciles were tested against the growth of Rhizoctonia solani—the incitant of sheath blight disease of rice under laboratory condition. Of the twenty five fungieidee tested bavistin, NF-48, vitavax, benlate, brassicol, thiabendazole, hinosan, daconil, demosan and kitazin have completely inhibited the growth and selerotial production even at 0.025 concentration while the fungicides agallol, thiram, captan, EL-273, dexon and agrosan have inhibited the growth and sclerotial produc-tion of the fungus only at 0.2 per cent level. All the fungicides tested have inhibited the growth of the pathogsa to varying degreees compared to control.
