A demonstration was laid out for the control of Myzus persicae in chilli crop at Rentachintala in Guntur district using the schedule recommended by A. P. Agricultural University in 2 hectares by 3 cultivators (1,2, 3); while another cultivator (4) undertook A. P. Agricultural University recommendation + additional sprayings of his own. In the third black 3 cultivators (5 6, 7) took up plant protection as per their own practice in which they not only utilised quinalphos repeatedly, but also sprayed methyl parathion which is deterimental to the predators on aphid. The results indicated that by adopting the methods as recommended by A, P. Agricultural University, cultivators 1, 2, 3 obtained Rs. 14,075, Rs. 14,491 and 12.883/ha respectively, while cultivator 4 who has included additional treatments of his own obtained Rs. 9,120/ha only However cultivators 5. 6, 7 who adopted local methods that are in vogue in the area got Rs. 3,805/- Rs. 9,100 and 10,632/ha respectively which are far below than the profits obtained by the cultivators 1, 2 and 3.
