In January 1974, a severe incidence of Machaerota spangbergii Signoret was recorded from the jujube (Zizyphus mauritiana Link.) orchard of the Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, which was budded in situ during August-September 1969. The granular application of diazinon, fenitrothion, fenthion, phorate and aldicarb was made at the rate of 10 and 20 g a. i. per tree for controlling this pest. The treatments of aldicarb at the rate of 10 and 20 g a. i./tree were found comparatively better than o her treatments in controlling this pest and were found effective up to 72 days after the application of the insecticide.
