Hedylepta lndicata Fabr the soybean leaf webber and folder appeared in a severe form during 1977.78 at Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh india) due to the exceptional long span of high humidity. The pest was found active throughout the year. feeding on soybeans, french beans, field and garden beans, lucerne, green gram and black gram. Hundred percent french bean plants during Kharif and soybean plants during Rabi were infested. In a field ezperi-ment on chemical control with 14 different insecticidal treatments, monocrotophos 0.04% spray and ethyl parathion 2% eust were found to be most effective against the pest.
