The effectiveness of aldrin (EC), BHC (dust), heptachlor (EC and dust») indane (EC) and Captan (dust) when applied a'S seed dressings at different rates were tested by recording the garmination and grain yield of wheat (WG357). Wheat seed-treated with all the 3 doses of BHC and higher doses of aldrin and heptachlor (3 ml/kg) showed poor germination. All other treatments were comparable to control. The yield reduction was noticeable where the seed was coated with BHC. All other treatments did not influence the yield of irligated wheat (WG 357) in the absence of termites indicating that general recommendations should be made with care.
