Jassid and bollworms are the key-pests which inflict heavy losses to the cotton crop in Haryana. Chemical control gives good results but the effective control is obtained when the population of these pests is kept suppressed during off-season so that the build up of population to the economic injury level is delayed there by resulting in less number of insecticidal sprays,. Various off-season operations including grazing of the left over bolls on plants and soil by sheep, field sanitation, removal of uprooted stubbles, buring trash from the ginneries, destruction of alternate hosts etc. are recommended to the growers. Chemical control for various sucking and chewing pests of cot on is also suggested.
