Influence of Weather Factors on the Incidence of Stem Borer in Rice

The stem borer damage (dead hearts in percent age) was con elated with weather factors. The analysis indicated the existence of significant positive relationship with the morning relative humidity (r=0.398), evening relative humidity (r=0.428), total rainfall (r=0.303) and total number of rainy days (r=0.320) as well as significant negative correlation with sunshine hours (—0 299) and maximum temperature (r=0 469). Multiple regression analysis revealed that increase in minimum tremperature by 1°C would result in a decrease of 0.43% stem borer damage.
