Abstract

Epipyrops melanoleuca Fletcher, an effective nymphal and adult ecto-parasite of sugarcane pyrilla, Pyrilla perpusilla (Walker) (Hemiptera: Lophopidae) has been colonised and established at Tejnagar, Plassey. Nadia, West Bengal. The parasite has established in its new borne in 3 years after its colonization in 1977. The information gathered suggests that greater number of releases of the parasire at high population level of the pest can help in the establishment of the parasite in new areas. Field conservatien and augmentation propgramme in West Bengal State is suggested for the bio-control of pyrilla.
