The aphid, Uroleucon compositae (Theobald), appeared on the safflower crop in the first week of January during three years (1978–79 to 1980–81) at Jabalpur. Cool humid weather during January – February led to its peak population during the second to fourth weeks of Mireh, when the average weekly maximum and minimum temperatures and relative humidity were about 33°C, 15°C and 44%, respectively. The pest disappeared with the corp matury in the second week of April, when the average weekly maximum temperature reached beyond 40°C, min mum temperature rose above 20°C and on elative humidity decreased upto 22 to 28%.
