Level of Depression in College Students

Abstract

The aim of the study was to measure the level of depression among college students pursuing four different academic courses. The academic courses include professional course from B. E (Computer Science and Engineering) and B. Tech (Information Technology) and non – professional course from B. Sc (Computer Science) and B.Com. They were in the age group of 17 and 20. The tools used for the study were Beck Depression Inventory by Aaron T. Beck. The main study consisted of four groups with 30 students in each. The results were statistically analyzed using chisquare. The results showed a significant difference only with respect to the groups differing in course of study.
