Interpersonal Relationship and Job Stress among state government employees

Abstract

Positive interpersonal relationship at work fosters a variety of beneficial outcomes for individual and organization; hence this study is an effort on improving interpersonal relationship in workplace. The present study aims to investigate the relationship between interpersonal relationship and job stress among state government employees. The sample consists of 60 state government employees who were working in Bangalore region which were selected for the present study. Interpersonal style questionnaire was used to measure the interpersonal relationship and work related stress questionnaire was used to measure job stress. Finding of this study revealed that there is no relationship between interpersonal relationships and job stress among state govt employees. It was found that job experience and designation have no impact on job stress and interpersonal relationship. It has also found that gender has impact on interpersonal relationship while females have more interpersonal relationship. The findings of the present study are in contrast with previous studies where we are expecting that low level of interpersonal relationship will predict high level of job stress among state govt employees.
