Effect of supplementation of different combinations of some selected nutrients on the performance and immune response of broilers

Abstract

Day-old broiler chicks (n=189) were reared up to six weeks on nine experimental diets including the control diet preparedby supplementing different combinations of 3 selected levels of nutrients to two basal diets in a completely randomised design. Basal diet A contained crude protein, 22%, ME 2900 Kcal/kg, vitamin A 1461 IU/kg, zinc 34 mg/kg, vitamin E 14.5 IU/kg, selenium 0.06 mg/kg, methionine 0.36% and choline 1300 mg/kg. Basal diet B contained crude protein, 22%, ME 2940 Kcal/kg, vitamin A 1515 IU/kg, zinc 34 mg/kg, vitamin E 13.4 IU/kg, selenium 0.16 mg/kg, methionine 0.35% and choline 1300 mg/kg. Three selected levels of paired nutrients were vitamin A Edld zinc (8500 IU/kg, 30 mg/kg and 12500 IU/kg, 30 mg/kg), vitamin E and selenium (150 IU/kg, 0.10 mg/kg and 300 IU/kg, no Se) and methionine and choline (0.15%,2000 mg/kg and 0.30%. 2000 mg/kg). 1here was no significant difference in body weight gain and feed conversion ratio amongst chicks fed different experimental diets. The cellular and humoral immuneresponses were betteron diet containing combinations of supplemental levels 1,4,6, (Vitamin A, 8500 IU/kg and In, 30 mg/kg; vitamin E 300 IU/kg and no Se; methionine, 0.30% and choline, 2000 mg/kg) with total concentration of vitamin A 10,015 IU/kg, Zinc 64 mg/kg, vitamin E 313.4 IU/kg, selenium 0.06 mg/kg, methionine 0.65% and choline 3300 mg/kg and 2, 4 and 6 (vitamin A, 12500 IU/kg and Zn 30 mg/kg; vitamin E, 300 IU/kg and no Se; methionine, 0.30% and choline, 2000 mg/kg) with total concentration of vitamin A 10,015 IU/kg, Zinc 64 mg/kg, vitamin E 313.4 IU/kg, selenium 0.06mg/kg, methionine 0.50% and choline 3300 mg/kg. Results of present study suggested that supplementation of combination of many nutrients could be beneficial for better cellular and humoral immune response.
