Effect of anticoccidial drugs on the carcass characteristics of broiler chickens

Broiler chickens were reared till 56 days of age on diets supplemented with coccidiostats viz., ACD-98 @ 200 g/MT, maduramicin @ 500 g/MT, Maduramicin ammonium @ 500 g/MT and a control diet without coccidiostat. Significant (P<0.01) differences in body gains were recorded. The ready to cook weight was higher in maduramicin ammonium group. The eviscerated weight was almost the same in the group in which diets were incorporated with ACD-98 and maduramicin ammonium. The giblets percentage was also higher in maduramicin ammonium group whereas total inedible of fals percentage was lower in this group. These results indicated that the anticoccidials influenced carcass yields and maduramicin ammonium was found to be better than the other coccidiostats.
