Abstract

A feeding trial of twelve week duration with 12 week old female indigenous chickens of Assam was conducted. Nine diets (3 x 3 factorial) were tested having three protein levels as 12, 14 and 16% and three levels of energy as 2500, 2700 and 2900 Kcal ME/kg diet and calorie protien ratio ranged from 178: 1 to 242:1). Ration containing 2700 Kcal ME/kg and 16% protein (ratio of 168: 1) is better for optimal growth and feed efficiency in indigenous chicke from 12 to 24th week of age.
