Abstract

A seroprevalence study in chicken and ducks in five districts of Kerala state employing HI and ELISA, revealed wide spread distribution of EDS-76 infection. The percentage positive by HI test was 14.91 as against 18.32 by ELISA out of 322 chicken serum samples screened. Of the 281 duck serum samples tested, percentage of, infection revealed by HI was 26.69 as against 33.10 by ELISA. lhough ELISA detected more positive cases, statistically there was no significant difference betweal the results obtained by these two tests, favouring the use of simple HI test for sera monitoring purposes.
