Abstract

The immunomodulatory effects of quinalphos, related to dose and duration were studied in broiler chicks. Two groups were administered quinalphos @ 0.06 mg/kg BW and 0.04 mg/kg BW respectively and immune status was monitored fortnightly for 75 days. A significant and progressive decline was observed in immunoglobulins and circulating immune complexes in treated chicks. The immunotoxic effects were more severe with higher dose. There was a significant decrease in organ weight/body weight ratio percent of bursa of Fabricius and spleen indicating immunosuppression on chronic exposure of quinalphos.
