Abstract

A balance trial was conducted using 30 Single Comb White Leghom layers to evaluate the effect of cellulase supplementation at three different levels in high fibre diet on nutrient utilization in comparison to standard and high fibre control diets for a period of three days. Apparent metabolisableenergy (AME), apparent protein digestibility (APD) and ether extract digestibilities were significantly (P<0.01) higher in enzyme supplemented and standard layer ration fed groups as compared with high fibre group control. The digestibtlity of acid detergent and neutral detergent fibre was statistically comparable among all treatments. However, digestibility of these fibre fractions was numerically improved by the added enzyme.
