Isolation of bacterial and fungal agents from dead-in-shell embryos of domestic pigeon (Columba livia)

Abstract

A total of 53 dead-in-shell embryos were collected in the present investigation of which 49 yielded different bacterial isolates in following order of frequency: E. coli (52–83%), Staph. aureus (13.20%), Bacillus spp. (9.4%), S. enteritidis (7.54%), Citrobacter spp. (5.66%) and Klebsiella spp (3.77%), Amongst the fungal isolates only Aspergillus niger (7.54%) was isolated.
