Abstract

Serum was collected from the Nicobari fowl (Brown, Black and White varieties), local and Khaki Campbell duck, and Japanese quail male birds. Gradient Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate Acryamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) of the serum protein of various poultry germplastn revealed 12, 16, 19, 13, 15 and 16 visible polypeptide bands for Brown. Black, White Nicobari, Local, Khaki Campbell duck and quail, respectively. The molecular weights of each polypeptide were calculated from the calibration curve and also band were c111ssified in major. moderate and minor bands depending upon the thickness of the bands. The genetic group specific and also the species-specific bands were observed.
