Abstract

Response realized for six gl1nerations of combined selection for egg production to 280 days of age in two layer populations has been presented. Both on genetic and phenotypic level, the responses for the selected trait i.e, egg production to 280 days of age were -1.81 ± 0.86 and -1.07±0.56, respectively for RIR selected line OR(s) and 1.93±0.47 and -1.86±0.67 respectively for WLH selected line OY(s). Both genetic and phenotypic regression were not significantly different from zero in both the lines. In both the lines, the realized genetic responses were smaller than expected response per generation.
