Abstract

A total of 72 birds belonging to naked neck homozygous (NaNa), naked neck heterozygous (Nana) and normally feathered (nana) genotypes of white and coloured broiler lines were used to study the effect of naked neck gene on carcass characteristics and meat composition, TIle naked neck birds showed lesser shrinkage loss, lesser feather loss, higher evisceration and cut-up parts yield in comparison to normally feathered birds. The significantly lesser carcass fat (inter-muscular) was observed in a naked neck broilers in comparison to their normally feathered counter-parts.
