Effect of E-Care-Se-Herbal on the performance and immune response in broilers
Abstract
The response of male Cobb broilers to supplementation of E-Care-Se-Herbal at 0.5 ml per liter of drinking water during 1, 3 and 5 weeks of age was evaluated by growth and immune performance from day old to 47 days of age. One ml of E-Care-Se-Herbal (Vet Care, Bangalore) contained 100 mg vitamin E, 0.5 mg selenium and Ocimum extract. Five replicates of eight birds were allocated to both reference and E-Care-Se-Plus treatments and maintained in battery brooders. The growth performance of broilers was similar in both treatments. Cell mediated and humoral immune responses and resistan ce to E. coli challenge were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher in E-Care-Se-Plus treatment than in the reference treatment. It is concluded that supplementation of E-Care-Se-Plus to broilers boosted the immune competencc.
