Abstract

The broiler traits, viz. day-old-weight (DW) and 6-week body weight (BW6) were recorded on 1455, 1058, 1692, 1440 and 2028 chicks of the progeny of 31, 34, 40, 36 and 40 sire in G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5 generation respectively. The corresponding mean for these traits ranged from 40.06±0.19 to 44.09±0.28 and 736.19±4.23 to 913.21±5.26 g, respectively. The heritability of day old weight was high and of 6-week body weight was low to high. These traits had positive association both at genetic and phenotypic level in all generations except G4 where the value was close to zero (−0.03±0.16).
