Abstract

An experiment was carried out to test the feasibility of replacing good jowar by black jowar in WL grower diet during 9–20 weeks of age. The dietary treatments were T1 (control diet with 30% maize and 30% good jowar), T2 (25% replacement of good jowar by black jowar), T3 (50% replacement of good jowar by black jowar), T4 (75% replacement of good jowar by black jowar) and T5 (100% replacement of good jowar by black jowar). The response of birds was studied in terms of feed consumption, feed efficiency, body weight, age at maturity and haematology. Inclusion of black jowar in growers diet did not reveal any harmful effect on the parameters studied. It was concluded that black jowar can be incorporated in growers diet without any adverse effect.
