Evidence of Chlamydophila psittaci in monal (Lophophorus impejanus) state bird of Himachal Pradesh
Abstract
Wild monal (Lophophorus impejanus), were screened for the presence of Chlamydophila psittaci infection. Faecal samples (droppings) of 3 birds were found to be positive for Chlamydophila psittaci out of 6 birds tested. Thus, this study has established presence of C. psittaci, a zoonotic pathogen, in wild monals.
