Abstract

The present investigation was carried out on vaccinated (against RD) broiler chickens of 1 week age for a period of 20 days to study the haemato -biochemical profiles in birds. The broiler chickens of group-B were infected with avian reovirus @ 1ml of 107 TCID50/bird and group-A birds were given 1ml normal saline solution., Haematological studies on 5 days interval revealed a slight decrease in packed cell volume, haemoglobin content and total leucocyte count. Absolute lymphocyte and absolute neutrophil counts were also calculated, revealing a state of lymphopenia and neutrophilia. A marked elevation of total serum proteins with corresponding increase of serum albumin level in infected chickens was observed. Decreases were found in albumin: globulin (A:G) ratios due to high globulin levels.
