An investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of supplementation of sodium sulphate and methionine in pure line layer diets devoid of animal protein sources from 20 weeks of age to 48 weeks of age. Control ration (T1) was formulated using unsalted dried fish as animal protein source. Experimental diets were formulated by adding DL methionine at 300g (T2) and sodium sulphate at the levels of 200g (T3), 300g (T4) and 400g (T5) in every 1000 kg of diet. Parameters like ASM, hen-day (HD) and hen-housed (HH) production, FCR and livability were not affected by the supplementation. From the overall results of the study, it was found that incorporation of sodium sulphate at 0.2 per cent level in all vegetable ration appears to provide sulphur containing amino acid from sulphate. The study also revealed that addition of methionine at 0.3 percent level replacing fish completely in vegetable protein diet is beneficial.
