Abstract

The effect of naked neck gene on fat deposition in white and coloured broiler lines was studied in tropical Indian summer climate. The abdominal fat, inter-muscular fat the plasma lipo-protein level were studied to asses the extent of fat deposition. The results indicated no difference in abdominal fat between naked necks and normals, intermuscular fat appeared to be lesser in naked necks while as total carcass fat as revealed by total body cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels was also lesser in the naked neck genotypes.
