The present study was conducted on shank feathered and clean shank strains of local hill fowl to evaluate the external and internal egg quality parameters. Egg weight, egg width, egg length, shape index, specific gravity, albumen weight, albumen height, albumen index, albumen volume, yolk weight, yolk height, yolk index, shell weight, shell thickness and haugh unit score were observed in shank feathered strain of local hill fowl as 49.82±0.37 g, 4.03±0.02 cm, 5.55±0.03 cm, 72.80±0.65%, 1.08±0.002, 26.87±0.40 g, 6.23±0.21 mm, 0.088±0.004, 25.91±0.25 ml, 16.30±0.23 g, 17.06±0.17 mm, 0.451±0.005, 6.28±0.11 g, 0.405±0.003 mm and 80.03±0.92, respectively. The corresponding figures for clean shank strain of local hill fowl were 56.77±0.56 g, 4.53±0.03 cm, 5.88±0.03 cm, 77.10±0.35%, 1.08±0.001, 31.95±0.43 g, 5.94±0.23 mm, 0.077±0.003, 30.60±0.30 ml, 18.41±0.33 g, 17.50±0.22 mm, 0.423±0.007, 6.48±0.05 g, 0.418±0.005 mm and 77.72±1.13, respectively. It was revealed that clean shank strain produced large sized eggs than feathered strain. However, feathered strain had higher albumen index, yolk index and haugh unit.
