Abstract

A study was conducted to evaluate the changes in feed consumption and body weight after induced moulting in White Leghorn layers at 60, 65 and 70 weeks of age. Forced moulting was induced by feed and water restriction method. The overall mean post-moult body weight was significantly (P<0.01) lower which might be due to higher percentage of body weight loss (31.08) compared to other treatment groups. The overall mean post-moult body weight of 70 weeks age group birds were higher compared to their corresponding control. The mean feed consumption (g/bird/day) did not differ significantly among treatment groups due to induced moulting. But overall mean post-moult feed consumption was numerically higher in all age groups compared to the corresponding control.
