The 50 eggs collected from poultry farmers of study area, district Pithoragarh during survey work were used to evaluate the egg quality traits of local hill fowl. The overall average light brown shell colour was 65 percent, followed by cream, brown and tintiled colour, which was 25, 9 and 1 percent, respectively. The 91 percent of eggs were with smooth shell texture and 9 percent with rough texture. The average values for egg weight, egg width, egg length, shape index, specific gravity, albumen weight, albumen height, albumen width, albumen index, albumen volume, yolk weight yolk height, yolk width, yolk index, shell weight, shell thickness and haugh unit score were found to be 52.03±0.90 g, 4.13±0.03 cm, 5.53±0.03 cm, 74.87±0.54%, 1.07±0.003, 28.15±0.710 g, 5.34±0.118 mm, 71.15±0.237 mm, 0.866±0.033, 26.18±0.603 ml, 17.61±0.354 g, 15.98±0.215 mm, 41.69±0.53 mm, 0.394±0.075, 6.33±0.151 g, 0.43±0.002 mm and 73.52±1.734, in eggs of local hill fowl, respectively. The coefficients of variation were recorded as 12.24, 5.36, 4.12, 5.09, 1.90, 17.83, 15.67, 23.49, 26.55, 16.27, 14.23, 9.52, 8.99, 13.43, 16.89, 4.00 and 16.68%, in corresponding traits. The albumen weight yolk weight and shell weight were contributed 54.06, 33.81 and 12.13% towards total egg weight.
