Abstract

A 42 days study was conducted on cockerels to observe the effect of replacement of animal protein by vegetable protein. Five groups of chicks with thirty in each were fed a standard ration (T1) containing 10% fish meal followed by 25% (T2), 50% (T3), 75% (T4) and 100% (T5) replacement of fish meal with full fat soya respectively. All the diets were isonitrogenous and isocaloric containing 23% CP and 2900 Kcl ME/kg feed. After 42 days, 4 birds from each group were slaughtered to study the carcass composition. Results indicated that 25% replacement of fish meal with full fat soya provided ideal protein with proper balance of amino acid in terms of carcass composition and economic return.
