A study was conducted to assess aflatoxin deposition and its clearance from the tissues of broiler chickens. Aflatoxin B₁ at one ppm level was fed to broiler chicken from day-old to 56 days of age. Aflatoxin B₁ feeding resulted in increase in tissues residues of aflatoxin B₁ to reach a plateau at second week. Aflatoxin B₁ deposition was more in the liver compared to leg and breast muscles. Aflatoxin deposit was rapidly cleared from the tissue once normal feeding was restored. The level of aflatoxin B₁ came down significantly both in liver and muscles after five days of its withdrawal. No residue was detectable in the tissues after 15 days of withdrawal.
