The study revealed that the prime marketing channel in both the districts was ‘producer-consumer’. The type of exchange in chicken marketing was based on cash system in Dimapur, while credit system was practiced in Kohima. Various factors responsible for market price fixation were; demand and supply, festivals, natural calamity, seasonal changes and others. Different marketing attributes of chicken and egg namely, source, price, frequency of marketing, age of marketing, preference for weight and choice of type of chickens in two districts were reported.
