Effect of dietary supplementation of phytase in wheat bran based diet on the performance of broiler chicken

An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of phytase on performance and carcass traits of broiler chicken fed diet containing different levels of wheat bran. Ninety, day-old broiler chicks were randomly divided into three groups, having thirty birds in each group and reared for seven weeks. Dietary treatments included: T₁ (control group) provided with basal diet, while in T₂ and T₃, basal diet had 5 and 10% wheat bran and each group was supplemented with phytase @ 30g/kg feed, respectively. The results indicated that, in terms of body weight gain and performance index, control group perform better than T₂ and T₃. Feed intake was statistically higher (P<0.05) in T₂ in comparison to T₁ and T₃.
