Toll like receptors (TLRs) are the most important Pattern Recognition Receptors (PRRs) that recognize conserved microbial signature molecules, the Pathogen Associated Molecular Patterns(PAMPS). Chicken Toll Like Receptor 5 (chTLR5) and Toll Like Receptor 7 (chTLR7) recognize flagellin and ssRNA, respectively, and induce expression of a wide range of immunoregulatory and effector molecules. In this study a 248 bp chTLR5 gene (Accession no. GU370775) and 414 bp chTLR-7 gene (Accession no. FJ908712) were amplified to study the expression pattern in a wide range of chicken tissues (brain, kidney, liver, lung, duodenum and heart). The expression of the genes was normalized to the expression of the house keeping gene, β-actin. chTLR5 and chTLR7 expressed in most tissues with highest expression in lung and intestine, respectively. This understanding of the chTLR5 and chTLR7 repertoire for different tissues would allow more refined interpretation of immune induction in response to chicken pathogens.
